Misao is the granddaughter of the leader previous to Aoshi's reign of the Oniwabanshu. She's grown up with the Oniwabanshu for practically her entire life. During that time, she has gained a fond liking towards Aoshi himself. Her mouth is hard to keep shut, especially when talking about the Oniwabanshu members she looked up to: Aoshi, Hannya, Shikijou, and the rest of the gang. She had always played with the fighters when she was young and even acquired some of Hannya's kenpo.

For Misao, she believes Aoshi is the strongest, even stronger than Kenshin. However, some call her the new leader of the Oniwabanshu, since Aoshi had given up his position when he became obssessed of earning the title of the strongest. Misao's best friend is Okina, whom she calls Jiya. For her, Okina is like a grandfather because she was raised by the old Oniwabanshu warrior. The weapons of choice for the ice blue eyed girl is a short dagger weapons called kunai. She keeps a bunch of them stored in her outfit to throw at will.
